The Story
Chess at Six. Serious at Eight.
Shashwath Sabarish walked into competitive chess at the age of 6 — and hasn't looked back. In less than two and a half years, his USCF rating has grown from 500 to 1550, a gain of over 1,000 points.
While attending full-time school, Shashwath devotes every available hour outside the classroom to chess — structured training across openings, tactics, endgames, and game study, supported by certified FIDE coaches.
He consistently plays up against significantly older and higher-rated opponents — a deliberate strategy to accelerate growth. At 8 years old, he is already competing at a level that most players don't reach until their teens.
